Bangkok Buffet Blowouts?

I am charged with organising my in laws trip to Thailand to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. We would like to take them out for a fantastic meal on their actual anniversary. Spoilt for choice in. Bangkok I know, but my problem is that my FIL is an extremely fussy eater - he loves really spicy food but hates pork, chicken, seafood and any fish that is not white. As a result, I am thinking a buffet may well be the best solution and preferably one that includes steak!

We have tried a number of the buffets at the hotels ( Pen, MO, SL ROS) along the river albeit some time ago. Any recent experience of these or suggestions for others? Although thought of starting off with a visit to one of the sky bars, but which one?

If you're not going on a Sunday for brunch then I like to suggest, for Thai food, "Eat Thai" at the Central Embassy. Very good Thai food court and you choose from, almost like a buffet, the various kiosks representing some of the best Thai restaurants from throughout the Kingdom.

If it's Sunday brunch I really like the Madison (Four Seasons Hotel) and the Brasserie Europa (Siam Kempinski Hotel). Excellent food along with quality champagne, wine and cocktails.

The proper name for the food centre at the Central Embassy is "Eathai".

Some Thai reviews but you can see the pictures:

J W Marriott on Sukhumvit has a great Sunday buffet.

Thanks for all the great suggestions and I will definitely try some of these out, however, what I am really looking for a place for the evening ( I think a Saturday if that makes a difference).

For anyone else looking for a Sunday lunch buffet, Utage at the Plaza Athenee does a terrific Japanese eat and drink as much as you like!

for lunch try lord jim at the oriental.. all kinds of meats

gaggan for something truly unique but not buffet

google Bangkok Saturday buffets??

Madison would be fab for steaks.. we ate there last trip and it was perhaps $175 with limited drinks for 2... delicious steaks..

biscotti at 4 seasons is always good.. with drinks in lobby beforehand..

sky bar is my choice.

Sky Bar at State Tower (close to the river) would be a great place to start off with just a drink. Sip is slowly as it's VERY pricey! Then watch the lights of the city come on from that fabulous Sky Bar view. I would not eat at the restaurant(s) that are also on top of State Tower. Not worth the price, IME.

For a great meal with a superb open air view we really like Red Sky, which sits atop the Centara Grande at Central World mall. The top of the Sofitel on Sukhumvit (L'Appart is maybe the name?) is also a meal with a nice view. Wondering if the Long Table on soi 16 might have the spicy food your FIL likes. You might check their menu, if it is available on line somewhere. Long Table is yet another place with a great view, even though it is "only" about 24-26 floors up.
