Bangkok Airport Taxi

Haven't seen anything current on this so... can anyone recommend a reliable airport to Bangkok city taxi transfer company which will permit advance booking? I have a late night arrival and prefer not to screw around with lines. TIA.

For inexpensive, you can't beat the taxis at the taxi queue.

If you want someone to meet you with your name on a sign, I like AAC Limo. Contact them at [email protected] You will pay a set price (about 1000-1200 baht) plus any expressway tolls. They will always ask if you want them to take the expressway. IMO, the correct answer to this questions is "yes." You will be met by a greeter who will walk you out to where the car will pick you up. Their cars are very nice - Mercedes or BMW sedans.

The late night taxi lines move very fast as it is a super busy time...

I like AAC too

Print-off the name of your hotel and it's location in Thai, and give the print-out to the taxi driver.

I'm almost always arriving BKK late at night from USA. I have always taken a public taxi and have never had issues or long waiting in line. Just make sure you insist on the meter, as some (few) will try for a flat rate. They are NOT supposed to do this and you can report them for it. But who wants to go to that trouble......

Anyway, it would be public taxi for me, as a solo female traveler.

If you need to buy some bahts at Bangkok airport you'll get the best exchange rate at the Kasikorn Bank kiosk.
It's on the ARL (Airport Rail Link) level, on the right as you enter the ARL concourse [green kiosk].
There's a few TMB kiosks in the airport, but you'll get a lousy exchange rate with them.

nfz, when i arrived in bangkok last month on ua, there was no line at the taxi stand. first time ever. in fact, i thought i missed the taxi stand, as there was no q. i walked up, got my taxi, and was on soi 11 in less than half an hour. taxi fare was 213b ++.

LancasterLad - most banks in Thailand offer pretty much the same exchange rates and the variations are very, very small.

For example, from today's f/x rate selling British Pounds, I assume you're from Lancaster, UK.

Kasikorn Bank exchange rate for traveler's check: GBP 1 = THB 53.24681
http://www.kasikornbank.com/EN/Rates...nExchange.aspx

TMB (Thai Military Bank): GBP 1 = THB = 53.41750
https://www.tmbbank.com/rates/index-en.php

For today you will get more Thai Baht at TMB bank compared to Kasikorn Bank and if you exchange GBP 1,000 then the difference is only THB 170.69 between the two banks.

However, there are a few money changers around town that offer good f/x rates. One example is Super Rich and today's f/x rate for GBP 1 = THB 53.70

That's good news about TMB, providing they give that rate at the airport. It saves going down to the ARL level, and back up again.

The exchange rates are the same between the bank branches.

Again, very little difference between one bank and another in Thailand unless you're exchanging a very large amount which most typical tourist don't do.
