There is a reasonable choice
You have the Novotel Suvarnabhumi at the airport, although expensive is not so bad when compared to what the Amari at the old airport used to charge! So if you want a good hotel right at the airport Novotel is the one. If you want something nearby the Novotel Bangna is very good and shopping nearby, would take I guess about 25 minutes, it's a good usual Novotel. http://www.r24.org/nongasia.com/bangkok/hotels/ Once you get over 25 minutes many would suggest just as well to go downtown, but there are others around the 25-30 minutes from the airport, Grand Inn Come, Avana etc. Depending on your flight time balance between the Novotel at the Auirport, the Novotel bangna or just heading into town, I think Michael suggested the radison as being close to the expressway to/from the airport. |
We went between the new airport and our hotel four times on our recent trip to Bangkok. We stay by the river at the Royal Orchid Sheraton, and all four trips took between 25 and 30 minutes. It was faster for us than the old airport. It's expressway virtually the whole way.

I plan to join a surgical team in Bangkok in Jan. 07. I have never been there. I want to add 3 days there and 3 days in Phuket. The first 3 after the surgical 'gig,' are to visit the floating market in Damnoensaduak,, Grand Palace, Temple of the Emerald Buddha,,Ayuthaya, Summer Palace. and an elephant park. Please let me know if there is a must see, not on my list. I plan to travel alone to Phuket. I do not know at this time where to stay. I would like to end this trip at a nice resort. I scuba dive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Maxine
