Bangkok airport hotel recs

We arrive in Bangkok around midnight and fly to Luang Prabang at noon so we need a clean comfortable place to crash for eight hours. Amari sounds pricy for our purposes. Asia Rooms shows very high customer ratings for Bangkok Golf Spa Resort Hotel by the airport. Anyone stayred there or know of it?

I've not heard of that one, but I have stayed at the Rama Gardens. I would recommend the Executive rooms there. I'm assuming you are at the "old" Bangkok Airport, not the new one scheduled to open in the next few months.

Bangkok Golf Spa Resort is about 20 minutes northwest from the airport. Have not stayed here so cannot comment. A closer hotel is the Asia Airport. While it is nothing grand, the rooms are clean and service fair. Airport pickup/delivery. Around $50 or less depending on choice of room. Tired looking shopping mall attached to hotel.

None of the hotels near the airport are very nice. Amari si ridiculous and not nice. Rama is better but it is in a dead area with nothing around it and because of traffic flow it actually takes almost as much time to get from Rama to the Airport as it would to stay in Bangkok in the Sukhumvit area. We did exactly the same as you. We got in at 11 pm and had a flight leaving the next day at Noon. We got a better price, a much nicer hotel, a better room, and a fantastic breakfast at the Majestic Grand Hotel in Sukhumvit. It's across the street from the JW Marriott. I think we paid $73 including breakfast and tax. And it was a full breakfast buffet with hot food including made to order omelettes and capuccinos. By doing this we could wander around Bangkok a little bit the next day before having to get back to the airport. Book online at Majestic Grand's site.
We also booked an airport limo that picked us up at the gate and drove straight to the hotel then picked us up around 10 am the next day to get to the airport again. It was only a half hour max to airport. Rama is probably only 10 minutes faster. It was so nice to have the limo waiting for us when we arrived. We were so tired. You should arrange in advance though as you will get discount by booking the roundtrip all at once. We paid roundtrip Baht@1,440-nett plus the road tolls. We used AAC Limos who has a kiosk just outside the gate after you get out of customs in the airport.

Enjoy!!!!

I've only play golf at Bangkok Golf and have seen the hotel section from the outside. Looks ok, nice view of the golf courses but no shops or restaurant apart from those of the club and the hotel. If you just want to sleep for 8 hours then it should be fine and perhaps you could even play golf for a couple of hours if you wish(they have a 18 hole regular course as well as a 18 hole par 3 course).

I have flown into Bangkok 5 times and each time have stayed at the Quality Suites. It's 10 minutes from the airport. They have great rooms and an awesome breakfast buffet for about $50. They also have free airport transfers. I will be staying there agin in 2 weeks.

Just found a better flight deal on EVA, arriving BKK around 12 noon and depart next day at 11:30 for Laos. So on this new flight itinerary, we've got 22 hours and could stay in town if we don't use up all our time driving to and from the city. If it only takes 35 minutes to get to the Peninsula Hotel, I'd love to stay there. Any websites or agents have discounts on rooms?

I'd definitely go into town with that much time. I'd count on 45 minutes to the hotel, but you'll still have time to enjoy a taste of Bangkok.

The Pen's own website often has some "deals." And check www.sawadee.com
