Both are being used, but it's not that simple. All international flights go in and out of the new airport. Also domestic flights with international connections use the new airport (although it is hard to tell excatly what they mena by that!). Some domestic flights use the old airport, some the new. You need to ask abuot any domestic flight you are taking.

Thai - some domestic flights to like Phuket and Chiang Mai from new, others from old

One-2-Go - Old
Codes: Suvarnabhumi is BKK and Don Muang ( or Don 'Mueang' with the new spelling ) is DMK

I should clarify regarding Thai Airways domestic flights that 'some' flights to Phuket and Chiang Mai go from the new airport but they 'also' have flights to Phuket and Chiang Mai from the 'old airport.

Thank you so much for this information. We are traveling with friends who when they go home before us will leave from BKK. I am in the process of getting flights through Eddie @ Seatours to CM. We already have a 2 hour drive from Pattaya so going to 2 airports will be a real inconvenience-Bless You all
