bangkok air specials

i received a promo from bkk air today offering two mini package deals through pink rose holidays.....they start may 1 and end in september...

one is for luang prabang for several days including 5* hotel and airfare for $375

the other is for koh samui at a 3* hotel and airfare for about $185

both seem to be fantastic buys...check them out if you are going to be in bkk during that time frame

As for international airfares, leaving from the U.S., and U.S. domestic airfares, you'd better book soon because on the news this past weekend,it was announced that airfares will go up,considerably, due to the outrageous gas prices. Plus, some airlines already have fuel surcharges.Three weeks ago, I went into Thai Air, here in L.A. and bought an economy ticket for this coming Dec/Jan in Bangkok and paid $1506. total...and prices are rising. Happy Travels!

Note that those specials Bob spoke of are only for members of Bangkok Air's frequent flyer program - there is no fee to join however.

The best roundtrip air i can find from east coast usa to bangkok this november is $900 + tax (est. $200 additional). Should I jump on this or wait? Thanks for any advice!!!

Guenmai Apr 24th, 2006 11:50 AM

Jump on it...prices are rising. There's no telling what might happen. Happy Travels!

I've never been to SEA in the summer and it pained me to pay $1350 from SFO.

I called some consolidators and they quoted me in excess of $1500! If you book with United you can always ask for a partial refund - if the price goes down- on the same itinerary before you depart.

rsidhu Apr 24th, 2006 12:16 PM

obersee1, where did you see that rate? I'm looking to go in November as well.

I purchased my tickets to Bangkok several months ago. I am in the process of purchasing our intra-Asia tickets right now. I want to get a price locked in soon. Right now the fuel surcharges on Thai are 10% of the ticket price.

Where is everyone looking for airline rates and what kind of seats are you purchasing? Also, are people being particular about the airline? I use www.airgorilla.com to find the lowest rate (although I sit in coach class) and have seen much lower prices offered.

Example: rsidhu, for November timeframe I checked Friday the 3rd to Sunday the 12th and found the lowest fare from SFO to BKK to be about $750 on China Airlines, $800 on EVA Airways, and $1060 on United. Northwest had a direct flight for $1100.

I've never had a problem with this website before and would recommend it to anyone.

welltraveledbrit Apr 24th, 2006 02:58 PM

pebbles,
Flights in November are just much cheaper than those in July. For my dates Air Gorilla was more expensive than booking directly with United.

And airfares are far more in Dec/Jan than some of the other times of the year. I have cheap places here in L.A. area, too, but those fares are for off season mostly. I like Thai Air because if I have to cancel, there's only a $75.00 fee...and the rest of the money is refunded to you... instead of the about $200. cancellation fee on United and then you have to use the ticket another time. You don't get your money back. With Thai Air, my frequent flyer miles still end up in my United account. I've been on United's program for over a decade. Happy Travels!

I used a great travel agency in Los Angeles which I heard about through this Board. It is called Star Tours and it is in Los Angeles, California near Thai town. We paid 980.00/each for tickets from LAX to BKK on JAL. We are travelling in July.

Bella_Bluebell May 8th, 2006 02:54 PM

I read Bob is away in Europe at the moment - I am sure he will reply to you once he is back.
