Bangkok Air Question

I just got an email from the lady at the Bangkok Air office here in California about the prices for our Discovery Pass. We will be flying from BKK - CM, CM - SR, SR - Phuket, Krabi - BKK. The total price for this was $455 + taxes.

My question is: How much are taxes and when do you pay them? We are supposed to send in a money order but we dont' know exactly how much to make it out for! We tried calling the office back but no one is answering :( Anyone have any ideas??

Don't pay with a money order... you have no protection in the event of a problem. An airline will always take a credit card.

Even with a credit card how much do we pay? You have to fill out a place that says to charge X amount....

Gpanda May 14th, 2008 05:19 PM

Call the 800 number and they will tell you the total price. i've paid with a money order several times. It worked perfectly and I saved the additional costs of using a credit card.

Follow Gpanda instructions and call the 800 number. The quote you got looks like it includes the fuel surchare and insurance. The tax propably refers to airport taxes which are 700 baht international from Thailand and 100 each for your domestic flights, totaling 900 baht or about $28. This is added to your ticket cost. The airport tax from Cambodia is $20 and will be collected at the airport.

Hi waterlily252.

We have a very similar itinerary as yours (Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai to Siem Reap, Siem Reap to Phuket and Phuket to Bangkok)for our trip in late December to middle of January. We were quoted $456/person for our Discovery Pass and this is inclusive of all taxes already. According to the sales agent in the Encino office, the breakdown is as follows:
Bangkok to CM = $60; CM to SR = $100; SR to Phuket = $100; Phuket to Bangkok = $60--the rest is taxes.

Hope you've already gotten through to them. I had to call several times and always easily got through.

Well that doesn't make me happy!

I paid $540. per person for a discovery pass: Bangkok to S.R., S.R. to Luang Prabang and then back to Bangkok.
We leave the end of January.

Wonder why it was almost $100 more?

Oh well....good for you!

Scotters May 24th, 2008 07:15 AM

bducla cost was calculated as fare 320 + fuel surcharge & insurance (27 per flight) 108 + airport tax (excluding Cambodia which is paid at airport) 28 (900 baht) totaling 456

Yours should be 3 international flights (BK/SR, SR/LP, LP/BK) at 100 each, fuel surcharge & insurance at 27 each and airport tax of 22 (700 baht) and 10 (Laos) totaling 413. Why you paid 540 is a good question.

I wonder if since we are already ticketed it would do any good to ask?

Kathie May 24th, 2008 12:43 PM

Jasper, it never hurts to ask. There may be seasonal rates differences or differences in numbers or types of legs flown.

jaspertl May 24th, 2008 01:02 PM

Thanks Kathie....
I'm sure there is an explanation.

I'll call on Monday and see what our agent Pansy can tell me. I'll just ask her to break down the cost.
