Bangkok Air

I have been looking into a possible visit to Laos in Feb entering & leaving via air via LP. Looking at flights with Bangkok Air the price for just a BKK - LP round trip comes to over US$800. Now if I am looking at the discover pass correctly each international leg of a pass is only US$90. That is a lot cheaper. I am sure someone has asked this before but can't find it. Has anyone bought more discover the minimum 3 pass tickets and just not used the last one? Or do yuo think someone like Eddie in Bangkok could get us tickets at a decent price?

Thanks again folks still dont' know if this trip will pan out but I am trying to gather all info so I am ready if it does!

Yup, plenty have people have done what you're suggesting. Just don't use the last leg/ticket of your discovery pass.

Yes there is quite a saving using the pass. The international section will be $90 + 27 (insurance/fuel charge) = $107. Domestic is $55 +12 = $67. Therefore you total cost for 2 would be about $562. On top of that there is the Bangkok Airport tax of $22 (700 baht) for international flights which is now included in the normal ticket price and $3 (100 baht) for domestic. So the total cost of the airpass is $612 compared to the normal price of 28440 baht or 890.

Thanks. Yes Scotters that is the way my calculations worked out as well. I wasn't sure of the taxes but figured they couldn't be enough to equal 830 so thanks for letting me know that.
I think I have read of folks calling the Bangkok air number here in the US and booking the pass over the phone?

Thanks again

Jules-the way to get the Discovery Pass is to call Bangkok Air and arrange to pre-pay. I just did this. I sent a certified check. They will allow a credit card payment, but they charge 5% (I think). It is relatively simple.
