Bangkok accomodation
hi , i am looking for a budget hotel stay for my grp of 3. Any1 have got any recommendation?
My budget is around 1600 -2200 THB per room per nite.t |
You could each get a private room at Suk 11 and not go over that budget.
I stayed there at the beginning and end of my trip this past Nov. and it was perfect. Clean rooms, great location and inexpensive. |
oh.. thanks for your reply but a private room each would not be ideal for us as we are all ladies. i am worried about safety problems. have been looking thru the website and found one hotel by the name of baiyoke suite not too sure whether it is good or not?

Jazs, I have stayed at two Bangkok hotels in that price range, Century Park and Menam Riverside. Both were very nice, and an excellent value. I booked through asiarooms.com and the rates there were better than the hotels' own websites. As a female traveling solo, I felt perfectly safe in both hotels as well as in the surrounding neighborhoods. Century Park has a free shuttle to nearby shopping at designated times each day, and Menam Riverside has a free water shuttle. Both have really good breakfast buffets.

No problem with safety at Suk 11 or many of the other budget places for single women. eurotraveller was just at Suk 11 recently as a solo woman traveller and reported it was great. I'd have no problem being in BKK alone...in fact, in August I'll be in Thailand alone with my 9 year old daughter for 2 weeks, includign 3 days in BKK and have no worries at all about our safety. I would worry more for us in New York.

If you are traveling in high season the Century Park and Menam Riverside while good hotels will be slightly higher than your budget. The Baiyoke Suite in my opinion is a dump. You might consider the Asia Hotel right by the skytrain or the Evergreen Place Apartments close by. On Sukumvit have a look at the Ambassador or the Manhattan. The Suk 11 has a room with 3 beds for 900 baht including small breakfast. Great cheap place to stay but no pool and all rooms are no smoking.

You absolutely have nothing to fear at Suk 11. It is very safe with many friendly travellers to visit with. The breakfast consisists of lots of different kinds of fruit, muffins and croissants and is included in the price.
It is right near the sky train and several highly recommended restaurants are within walking distance. Several of the people I met had stayed at Suk 11 several times before. It is a great value! |
Seems like Suk 11 is not a bad choice. Can i have more details of this place maybe the location, any website. thanks alot

I stayed at the Menam Riverside in August for $47.00 per night for a double. I loved it because it's peaceful on the river, great views, free shuttle boat to Skytrain, nice buffet breakfast. It was great to return to after the hot, busy city.
Be careful though. If you book a double, even for two females, you will get one bed. I did not have a problem because my friend got sick so I was alone. I was never concerned about safety. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The guests were mostly Japanese and Germans. |
Suk11 is very safe and they do not allow gentlemen to bring their "lady friends" back either.
Just a shame they haven't got a swimming pool. The Asia has a direct link to the Skytrain and is quite reasonable on Sawadee.com if you want to do some comparisons. The rooms are quite large too. |
Buddy Lodge might fit the bill.Great location for first visit to Bangkok. At least if you're young, or young at heart. Here's a link

You'll want either two taxis from the airport, or you can request a van from one of the limo services.
