BaliNusa Dua resorts

My wife and I are booked for BaliNusa Dua
this coming Jan, 2000. We are looking at staying at the Grand Mirage or either Sheraton. Any info on any of these resorts or others in the area would be appreciated.

Hi-
We stayed at the Hilton in Nusa Dua, and had some meals at the Sheraton. Both have extensive and very nice grounds, and are on the beach. The rooms at the Hilton were very nice, and I'd assume the same to be true of the Sheraton.
I wasn't impressed with the beach - it was VERY dependent on whether the tide was in or out. When it was out, it was WAY out, essentially making the beach unusable (rocks, smelly seaweed to negotiate before you reach water). I was told that this was because of El Nino (we were there in 97), but who knows?

My husband & I stayed at The Grand Mirage in Nusa Dua for two weeks in March 1997. We absolutely loved it. No complaints at all. However, we are Australian and found the prices high for restaurant meals within the resort (they were in US$ - conversion rate not good for us). This was not a problem though, as we ate at a couple of restaurants just across the road, Bagus Cafe (excellent, we ate there as often as we could, extremely delicious & cheap) and The Padma (just up from Bagus Cafe). We had breakfast every morning at Bagus - all you can eat for about 4,000RP. The exchange rate in March 1997 was AUD$1 = 1,890RP. The rate is much better now. We are planning to return to Nusa Dua in the next twelve months and will definitely stay at The Grand Mirage.

Hope this is of interest to you both.
