Bali-places to stay

Hello,

We are going to bali this October for our honeymoon. We have a total of 9 nights to experience the island. We are planning to stay at the rimba for 4-5 nights and are considering other destinations to follow. Is it too much of a repeat to spend the second half of the vacation in Seminyak? Or would others recommend ubud? We are excited about ubud but were also excited to experience the beach. Any insights are helpful.

Thank you!

The Rimba is at Jimbaran, isn't it? So you will have that time at a beach. Why not spend the other nights in Ubud?

Places in Bali and accommodations there are probably the most discussed topic on the Asia forums. Have you had a look at other threads? They might give you ideas for more specific questions:

Rimba (and this applies to Ayana its sister resort as well) is an upscale, all inclusive resort with spectacular views, spa, multiple pools and restaurants; however -- and this is a big however if you're thinking about a beach vacation -- be aware that Rimba is on a cliff, not at beach level.

To get to the lovely white sand cove pictured on their website you have to walk down (and ultimately UP) 197 steps, which is the equivalent of 10 stories!

So if you really want beach access (as opposed to pools and sea views)you should look at Seminyak, Sanur or Nusa Dua. Possibly another part of Jimbaran.

My favorite is the Legian in Seminyak. It's a beautiful resort with a great pool and a nice (but big-wave) beach, seaviews and spa. Plus it's close to all of the restaurants, shops and nightlife of Seminyak.

You really should spend a few nights in Ubud. It's a beautiful and magical part of Bali, the center of nature and culture and you can't really capture the experience in a day trip. There are many beautiful honeymoonish resorts and villas. I'd look at the Four Seasons Sayan, Alila (get a suite), Como Shambhala, Samaya.

It's a lot of moving but if you really want to include Rimba, then I'd suggest splitting your time three ways Rimba, Ubud and Seminyak.

I think ubud speaks to the identity of bali and is a must..

I love alam shanti especially the gangga and yamun (sp) rooms--same building with a private pool--gangga is my fav. read my trip reports.. I am going there sept 17 actually.

Me and the cook are staying in Sanur from 25 September to 2 October, and Ubud from 2 October to 9 October, and then flying to Java.

We are strictly Hoi Polloi, and our choice of accommodation for a week will probably equal one night at a posh place.
