Bali or Phuket?
Hello,

We are trying to decide where to spend our honeymoon (end of March 2000). Ideally we would spend 2 days in Singapore and 12 days in either Bali or Phuket. We would be looking for an active "worry-free" vacation. Last year we were in Costa Rica and loved it. Any thoughts?

thanks, darrin

I recommend Phuket. If you can afford, you can stay at Laguna hotel area (four hotels: Sherton, Banyan Tree & 2 others ). They have all the facilities spread over the region. Or you can joint some day tour to outler islands for diving, and 1-2 days shopping at Patong or Phuket Town.
Have a nice honeymoon!!

I've traveled to about 100 countries and when people ask what is your favorite destination if I really have to come up with one it is Bali. The center of the island. With the recent political troubles I don't know if it would be "worry-free" but that seems to have stabilized. I, personally, would spend some time in Thailand and some in Bali and split the difference. Is that possible? Two nights in Singapore is more than enough! Have fun.

I have visited both Bali and Phuket and enjoyed them both, but Bali would be first choice for a honeymoon. If you do go to Bali be sure to visit Ubud. Very interesting. I stayed at the Four Seasons and it was heaven on earth. If you do go to Phuket check out the Chedi. It is for Aman wanna be's. Very nice and very reasonable. Right next door to the Aman resort. It was a true "find".
Have fun.

As a Phuketian I am may be biased but
I recommend any hotel on the beaches of Patong, Kata, Karon, Nai Harn, Pansea or Kamala for romance & Patong for the eXciting nightlife. Some hotels like Pearl do weding blessings too!
If you choose Phuket check out www.PhuketXyber.com for tips on tours, etc to go on.

Hi,

We spent a week at the Meridien on Phuket a couple of years ago in January--it was wonderful (the restaurants were only average). I'm going back to Thailand at the end of January and can't decide between a return visit to Phuket or a first time trip to Bali. I'm concerned about rain in Bali--will it be overwhelming? Thanks for any input.
