Bali honeymoon itinerary.

Myself and husband to be are heading to bali for our honeymoon at the end of august - beginning of September. We will have a whole 14 days to explore Bali. I am struggling to come up with an itinerary as there seems to be so many options. We love the beach, snorkelling, culture, wildlife, countryside, shopping and nightlife - so here's what I have so far - please criticise as Im still in the early stages of planning.
From the airport hop on to an internal flight to Lombok spend 2 days here (not sure where) senggigi?
From there head to gili t for 3 nights.
From gili get a boat back to Bali for 5 nights in ubud.
To end the holiday, head to kuta for the last 4 nights.
Does this seem logical? Also are there any must sees that we may miss with this itinerary or places we shouldn't bother with? We are looking at a middle of the road budget - but could splurge a bit if required. We usually backpack on holidays and rough it...but it is our honeymoon after all. Many thanks x

Do you want to do that much moving around on your honeymoon? That's a lot of packing and unpacking, time in transit, etc.

If you do opt to go to Lombok, I highly recommend Qunci Villas.

I am not sure why you would want to finish up in Kuta, crowded, full of drunk adolescents, not a romantic honeymoon place, IMO. I'd opt for a different beach, maybe Sanur or Seminyak.

I'm not sure about a boat from Gilli to Bali. The waters between the islands can be very rough and last time I was there they had discontinued the hydrofoil between Lombok and Bali.

Thanks for your suggestions - I shall definitely look into sanur! Is there plenty to do in the evenings? Few late night bars, restaurants? We're not hard core partiers, but do like a bit of action.
We're probably not going to get to Bali again so the moving around was so not to miss anything. Would it b worth doing gilli t as a day trip from Lombok? Or just stick to Bali only and forget the other islands?

"the moving around was so not to miss anything" In Asia, I've found, you miss things by going too fast, moving around too much. You see/experience more by choosing just a couple of destinations and staying put for a while.

Personally, I think the Gillis as a day trip from Lombok makes more sense than what you initially outlined. But just doing Bali makes sense as well.

Agree, three places maximum. First, either Lombok itself or Gili Trawanan. I don't have much opinion either way. Trawanan is less developed, Lombok has more to do. I'd lean toward Lombok as you can always hop over to one of the Gilis on a day trip.

Everyone likes Qunci Villas. Another place that looks really nice is Jeeva Klui. I haven't been to either one, though, so can't give details.

The ferries between Lombok and Bali are fairly reliable, but it's hard to predict bad weather. Same goes for flights, actually, and even though it's quite close getting between Bali and Lombok always ends up taking most of the day.

If you decide to spend your whole time in Bali you might add East Bali. The beaches aren't as nice as Lombok but there's snorking, great natural beauty and cultural places of interest. Look at Alila Manggis.

You'll have lots of options in Ubud. I prefer staying outside of the town itself as the countryside is profoundly beautiful. Look at the Alila ubud (a suite if it's in your budget), Kayu Manis, Samaya, Koman Tanggayuda.

You definitely want Seminyak. Kuta is too manic. Sanur is nice but Seminyak's the place for restaurants, night spots, shopping, spas, big waves and sunset on the beach. I like Petitenget, the northern end of the beach.

The Legian (the one in Seminyak) and the Samaya are wonderful, but on the pricy side. Resort Seminyak and the Oberoi are well located. There's a new Alila being built in Petitenget which may be finished by the time of your visit. The Colony is across the road from the beach, but charming and a good value.

These are all within walking distance or a short taxi from everything you'd want to do.

You might also look at renting a villa in Seminyak. It won't be on the beach but will be near enough. A nice way to end your honeymoon. Look at the Laksmana Group to start. This is also a good website for rentals. http://balihomeparadise.com/

Thank you for all your input. We have taken all advice on board, and we're going to go to ubud (5 days), candidasa (4days), and finish in seminyak for the last 5 days.

I think you're doing the right thing by zeroing in on three places. Take care when choosing your locale in Candidasa.

The area was very popular about 15 years ago, then went into a severe slump, with eroded beaches and shuttered resorts. It's undergone a renaissance in the past few years, but there are still a lot of run down places.
