Bali Feedback Please

Hi,

This forum is great and both Kathrine and myself would like to thank all those who have shared their valuable knowledge about Bali... we both really appreciate it.

We are heading off in a little over 1 month and have been re-thinking the first part of itinerary. Currently we are spending first 3 nights in Kuta, then 2 nights in Sanur, then 3 nights in Seminyak and after that off to Ubud never to be seen again... lol
(by the way, our daily accommoadtion budget is around $50 Australian)

There is 8 nights there in total, and we are now considering heading straight to Seminyak for say 4 nights, then spend the other 4 nights in a combination between Sanur and Nusa Lembongan.

This is where we are a bit stuck and would like some tips...

1) Seminyak accomodation: We are thinking about staying in Double Six area, near the beach. Any suggetions on where to stay that is nice and central? A friend said that Sari Bunga is ok.

2) Sanur - We have been suggested to stay at Mango Puri (deluxe room) as good friends of ours have stayed there many times. We currently have 2 nights booked there and feel as though it is enough

3) Nusa Lembongan - Do we go there for a couple of nights? What about just doing a day trip? It looks good, but just not too sure about heading over there, as we only know 1 other person that's been. Also best way to get there and what to do when on the island would be great

4) Any other general tips or suggestions would be great. This is Kathrine's first trip both overseas and to Bali, so, as you can understand, I want set the scene so that it is very special and memorable for her... like my first journey overseas was.

Thank you,
Robb & Kathrine

I think you are wise to skip Kuta. I'd also recommend that you move around less. Bali is relatively small, so you can cover most of the island with day trips. I'm not sure how many nights you have total, but diviiding your first 8 nights into two places makes much more sense than going to three places in eight days. Just how many times do you want to pack up a move? I wouldn't want to spend a mere two nights any of the places, so dividing the eight days into two four night stays or a 3 night and 5 night stay is better.

I agree on moving around too much. Yes, the beaches at Seminyak and Sanur are physically quite different, but it still comes down to sand and sea. I'd pick one and stay there.

Double-six is a bit close to Kuta/Legian for my taste. I much prefer the hassle-free climate up around Petiniget. But, that said, Sanur is probably where I would most want to spend an extended stay.

robb, I especially like the Sofitel in Seminyak. It's medium sized, recently renovated, has excellent facilities right on a very good beach. Within walking distance to everything.

It maybe outside your $50 budget but you should be able to compensate in Ubud.

I haven't been to Nusa Lembongan myself, though I've heard good things. I think the whole point is that there's nothing to do but laze on the beach.

I would agree with sticking with two places. On our first trip we stayed in Sanur but we are going back in August and dividing our time between Sanur and Ubud. It is simple enough to travel around in Bali.

you are moving around too much....the places you list are all quite close together....it is easy to tour around without moving your hotel...

i suggest you hire a driver for several days and you will be able to see the whole island easily on day trips from the south...

putu did a fabulous job for us....just search here for his name...
