Bali - Benoa or Pettingenet?

Bali - Benoa or Pettingenet?
I have the opportunity to book some cheap Accor Hotels in either of the above beaches. Any thoughts as to which may be more suited to someone not interested in wild partying (anymore!!) an looking for somewhere within easy reach of decent local food. Considering spending a few nights bookending a possible trip to Flores and/or Komodo.
Any opinions would be much appreciated.

I had no idea that Accor had so many hotels in Bali. Are you looking at Ibis or another brand?
You can get local food in many places in Petitenget, but it's more geared toward either upscale local or cheap international, some of which is quite good. I would think the same would be true of Benoa, but haven't been there for a while.
Benoa is a lousy beach, somewhat closer to the airport than Petitenget.
Petitenget is mostly low key, but there are a few noisy areas around late night dance clubs. The Ibis Petitenget isn't in a bad location, though it's densely populated with budget hotels and restaurants and can get traffic-y at times.
From Ibis Petitenget, it's a short taxi (or a long walk) to Petitenget temple which fronts on a nice, big wave surfer beach. About 1 km south of Petitenget temple there are a series of beach shacks which are cheap and fun during the day, a bit loud at night.
Ibis Petitenget is also a short taxi to the many inexpensive and creative restaurants on Jl. Batu Belig and Jl. Pantai Berawa, both local and Western. These are all lively, active areas, popular with young people into surfing and yoga.

I didn't realise that Accor had so many places in Bali either. We use them a fair amount as they have a good loyalty programme, (generally) reliable standards and some great deals from time to time - hence the interest. We used Ibis a lot in Java and were very pleased. Great staff, inxexpensive rates and decent locations.
A long time since I have been to the Bali beaches as our last couple of trips have been up north diving and to Ubud so not too sure how we would take to southern Bali which has doubtless got a lot busier.
I have just revisited my post from a couple of months back where you were suggesting Sulawesi and I think we may well go with that as well or instead of Bali. There are also some great Accor deals to be had in Makkasar and July is of course the "funeral season" (doesn't sound right somehow!)

Bali's west coast beaches definitely have an Aussie surfer vibe (with an overlay of wellness and hipster cultures). It's generally good natured and a bit goofy, but you either like the lively active ambiance, or you don't.
Benoa is the extension of Nusa Dua and is pure tourism. You may find what you're looking for in Sanur . . .
Makassar is an interesting town with good connections to the eastern part of Indonesia. It's some distance from Tanah Toraja though. North Sulawesi (Manado, Bunakan and the Lembeh Strait) is also well worth the effort.
