Bali - 7 days

Hello my Fodorities Friends!!

How can i plan my trip to stay in Bali during 7 days?

Can i rent a car and travel during the day? What´s the best area to get a hote?

Some advises?

Many thanks.

ubud is centrally located with many hotels.. I love alam shanti..

I rented a car on my last visit and the driving is tough.. I suggest hiring a driver for about the same money... we like putu: www.mybalifriend.com

tell us more about what you want to do and about your budget

There are two areas of Bali I recommend against: Kuta beach and Nusa Dua.

Consider Sanur or Semiyak for beaches, and consider countryside near Ubud as well.

I'd recommend you hire a driver rather than driving yourself. Roads are very narrow and not well marked.

Agree with the above posters. Drivers and taxis are cheap. Relax and let someone else deal with crazy Bali driving.

How you spend your time really depends on what you like to do. Most people divide their stays between Ubud for culture and nature and the beach for, well, the beach.

I´d like to visit everything in this 7 full days..Culture, Mountains, vulcano if its possible, and beach.

i don´t have big budget but wanna stay in a simple hostel/hotel and visit everyplace, for me it´s ok to rent a car with drive.

Dear Fodorite

Don't worry, the rental car with driver is very cheap. I went to Bali in Feb 2012. At that time, a full day tour costed us 41 USD (10 hrs) and a half day tour costed us 35 USD (5 hours. 7 full days are more than enough to cover everything. Since you are on budget, read my blog. It covers the costing of each and every place and each and every activity. My entire tour was booked by a local agent. He got us good deals. I am sure you won't be left with any questions once you have read the blog:
Dear Fodorite
I will recommend you to book a private car with driver as that is the best way to commute in Bali. I went last year (2012) in Feb. Here are the costing: Half day tour with driver costed us USD 35 (5 hours max). A full day tour costed us USD 41 (10 hours max). Pick up from airport to hotel (Kuta Area) costed us 12 USD one way. I booked the tour and car through a local agent. You can check my blog for the remaining information.
