Autumn colours in/around Tokyo 2011

I may be bringing my son in early Nov to view the Autumn colours. Will be staying in Tokyo with a day trip for that purpose. Between Nikko, Kamakura and Mt Takao. Which would be the ideal considering I'm on a tight budget, train schedule, travelling time and of course would be a nicer play to view?

If early November means the first week of then I would head for the town of Nikko(not Chuzenji-ko) and maybe two weeks early for Takaosan and Kamakura....but that's just one man's prediction. Good luck!

Aloha!

ht, I hope you're right with the Nikko forecast as I'll be there towards the end of November and I hope I miss the tourist congestion that I've read about....;-)

Appreciate the info. I may need to re-schedule to later part of November as my son has a school trip to Vietnam 2nd week of November.

If you do re-schedule to later in November( third and fourth week) a lot of koyo venues will open up in Tokyo this year. You have probably already been but one of our favorites is Rikugien Garden. Very attractive during the colors seasons and so many camera shots as the landscaped gardens are really gorgeous.

Then since you will be in the area head on to Koishikawa Korakuen one of Tokyo's oldest surviving gardens and very picturesque in the fall.

And this place has been on my bucket list of things to do from Tokyo in the fall but haven't been able to get there yet.

ht, thanks for the heads up on the two Tokyo garden spots for koyo - I have already found their websites and have printed out maps. :)
