Where's the best place (airport duty free shop, city, etc.) to buy real ROLEX watches?

Dubai (UAE) has lots of good deals on jewelry and watches. With the level of stuff they sell there, a Rolex would be on the cheap end. Wherever you go, just make sure they have an official Rolex dealer sign up. Also, don't do anything on the Internet. Rolex states very clearly that their products are sold in person only.

NOT ASIA thats for sure... but ironicly some of the best discount online fine watch dealers come from Asia.. it makes no sence.

where are you planning too go.. or are you just makeing a generel question

orgy7,
planning to visit cairo by way of amman, jordan in june. since i am travelling from seoul, it may be a good idea to stop by dubai or somewhere in saudi to shop. what do you think?

sory cant help on Cairo or Aman. it was snowing when I went threw Aman, and in Cairo I didn't stumble by any watch shops. I usually stop and window shop in every singe watch shop I see. :). I find that duty free shops don't offer any good deals. they offer everythng at retail cost + .

Dubai is a good idea - it's a shoppers paradise, but you better know prices for all/any style Rolex of interest ahead of time before handing over your money.

Dubai is the place ( By the way, you can't even get 'into' Saudi unless you are working there or on a Pilgrimage, a diplomat, or on some kind of official function, although off-subject it is amazing to realise that it is one of the very few places on the planet that you actually cannot visit on the basis that you would 'like to'..), anyway, Dubai is the place and makes a very good stopover anyway. Amman doesn't really have anything in the way of that type of 'cheap' shopping. Amman is a nice place and the people are very friendly, if you manage to get to see Petra you can pretend you are Indiana Jones!

Just be sure you get it from an authorized dealer. There are high end Rolex fakes with non-Rolex Swiss auto. movements, sapphire crystals, etc. that go for up to $850.00. Of course te idea is to pass them off as the real deal for alot more. Take no chances.

orgy7 Feb 2nd, 2004 07:41 AM

the fakes probably have a better true value then a real Rolex..

Rolex is one of the few watches that retains if not appreciates in value. The fake is just that. Hey, that is why Rolex is so copied. No one copies a Timex.

jackwatch it sure does. but your stil not gettin what your paying for. you jsut paying a huge mark up for a popular brand..

ROLEX is the poor man's elite watch..

JAC you obviously know thay rolex is for from a true elite. like F.P jouirne. ulysee nardin.. PAtek. and a bunch of others. but in the general public these brands are not known and they are just more rare. and just too expensive. $35.000 $125.000

ROLEXES are produced like tik taks. and they have not come out with any inovations in a while.. hell they just recently bagun making thier own in house movments for the Daytona.. which was running on an "EL Primero" by Zenith.

anyways... as an investment ROLEXES are a good deal.. yet so is a 1952 Mickey Mantle baseball card.

Don't minde me... the last watch I bought came from Burger KIng...

have a good one..

I'll take your advice. I won't mind you. You have a good one too. For anyone else Rolex uses a SS alloy that is 3x the price of other brands, their hands and dial markers are white gold, and so on. Go to www.timezone.com, then to the Rolex forum for info if you please. There are reasons why it is the most recognized watch in the world IMHO. To the original poster good hunting. If you do get a Rolex it is something to pass down as an heirloom. You won't regret it. Thats what I plan to do. Cheers, Larry.
