ATM's

Hi I'm going to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand next week and in lots of Travel guides they say there are no ATM machines, can anyone who has been to any of these places let me know if this is true, Please and Thanks.

I can't answer you question directly but I do want to add that if you want to use your bank card in Asia you should be sure to check and double check that your PIN number has the correct number of digits for use there. When I went to Europe I was told four digit PINs only, and I think most North American PINs are four digits now, too. But our bank cards for our local accounts here in Malaysia have six digit PINs - perhaps elsewhere in Asia they are also six digits.

There are NO ATMs in Cambodia or Laos. Lots of ATMs in Thailand. I have heard that there were only a few in Viet Nam.

In Ho Chi Minh city, there is a 24 hour ATM in the Hong Kong bank building across from the Notre Dame cathedral; it's easy to find.

I haven't been to Hanoi in 5 years but am sure if you went to the Metropole hotel and asked, they will tell you where an ATM is located.

Other cities in VN will not have ATM's.

Enjoy your trip.

Gary
