asiarooms.com

I am looking at using this company and was wondering if others have been happy with them?

fiona May 17th, 2005 11:14 AM

I would also be interested to hear recommendations for other companies. I am looking for Hong Kong hotels.

Kathie May 17th, 2005 12:54 PM

I usually use www.asiahotels.com

fiona May 17th, 2005 01:00 PM

thanks Kathie. I have tried asiahotels for the hotel I was interested in and they quoted me 50% more than I had already been quoted- for exactly the same room type. Perhaps that was just a "blip" on their part.

I've used asiahotels.com many times, in fact, I just used then to book hotels for an upcoming trip to Malaysia. I find they USUALLY but not always have lower prices than other sites. Their customer service is terrific, they answer questions and are very attentive if you send them an email inquiry. Over the past 3 or 4 years using them, I have never had a problem and would highly recommend them.

Fiona, I think all of the internet booking agencies have some properties they have great prices on and some they do not. Sorry, I haven't tried asiarooms, so I can't comment on their service.

I have booked a prepaid 5 day BKK hotel based on recs in some posts earlier on this site.Their price beat asiahotels by 50%.I hope thay are legit!

I did post a reply but it seems to have disappeared! Laurie and Kathie- thanks for the replies. I may well give asiahotels a second go!

Kathie May 17th, 2005 03:45 PM

Fiona, I tried a little experiment with asiarooms vs. asiahotels. I checked on a couple of properties I'd recently priced on asiahotels. For one of the hotels, asiarooms had a similar price, for another hotel its price was double the asiahotels price. However, I did notice that asiarooms has specials, and one special was significantly below the price of asiahotels. So asiarooms may be a great source for a few particular properties or they may have good last-minute deals.

Sorry I don't know about their reliability.

Hi Fiona,
I used asiarooms.com last year to book our accommodation at the Bangkok Marriott Resort as their prices were so much better than what I found on other sites. We had no problems with the booking and all was in order when we got to the Marriott. I'm not sure how things would have been if we'd had to cancel and I'd wanted my money back but for our straight forward booking, they were fine.

I used asiarooms.com to book a hotel in Bangkok - everything went smoothly - no problems whatsoever.

bibas May 24th, 2005 04:19 AM

First I was afraid to give my credit card. But after all I can say that asiarooms.com make my reservation to bali very smooth and without any problem. I don't know others but I was happy also for the price. I will be back with them.

Dear fiona

I often use asiarooms when I need to book a hotel. I have checked so many times other websites but I've never found lower prices. I have found cheaper prices but taxes were not include so finally you pay more.
Good service with an efficient call center.

fiona May 24th, 2005 10:05 AM

funnily enough I got the best price by booking directly with the hotel I wanted! This isn't always the case is it?

Craig May 24th, 2005 10:08 AM

Not always the case but always worth checking.

LucyHo May 31st, 2005 03:01 AM

Travel agents have good hotel prices. Asiahotels also have package tours including hotel and air travel.

Clark55 May 31st, 2005 11:15 PM

There seems to be problems with Asiarooms when it comes to refunds. There's been a number of posts on other forums with people complaining that even if the cancelled within the allowed time limit they've never been refunded. There's a thread regarding this on the Asia web direct forums site at the moment.
We booked with precisions & thought they were great, I don't know why but we received upgrades in all the hotels we booked.
