Asia's most exciting driving?

If you take Fodors advice when driving in Macau (Hong Kong Guide edition 17, page 199) you'll have an exciting time. You can drive on the right side of the road if you wish, but everyone else will be on the left!

laurie, I've been thinking about this ever since I posted on it yesterday, thinking it probably was a simple error by the Fodor's publisheers. It's been about 8 years since I was there and we didn't drive, but it seems that I DO remember reading how Macau WAS driving on the right because it belonged to Portugal not the UK (at that time) and the traffic followed the mainland European custom. And it seems like when we got there we made note of that. It seemed strange being so close to Hong Kong where it was driving on the left. Am I wrong? Or has it changed to left hand driving? Now you've really got me curious.

Macau does indeed drive on the left, perhaps as a result of its vehicles having originally arrived via Hong Kong.
