Asia Rooms

For those keeping track, I just went to their website and they now say that they have 70,044 hotels available. I guess we'll be seing a new post advising us of the added delights. This is up from the approx. 69, 349 hotels noted in an earlier post.

I am sure they will appreciate your free advertisement.

Go Yankees.

I'm guessing that irony is not a large part of their marketing plan.

Their wild card aspeirations are admirable.

i like asia rooms...

Used Asia Rooms recently and no problems. Our chosen hotel actually closed down prior to our stay and we had our refund credited immediately .

Guess that makes 70,043 rooms then, Andy. :)

Maybe, the site is actually a hotel liquidator in disguise.

I would never ever allow a hold on my c/card for a booking I did not know could be available.
In addition to Sawadee I like the Instant confirmation ones that are integrated right into the hotel's booking system like Asiaoz and Hotelclub and then only pay 1 night deposit, never a whole bunch of money tied up for months ahead.

I have found Asiarooms.com to be very reliable and many times and very good deal. Your credit card is charged only if the room is confirmed. They work the same way as, for instance, asia-hotels.com.

Kathie Jul 31st, 2007 07:51 AM

The chronic problem with asiarooms is that they advertise heavily discounted prices but often can only confirm at a much higher price. If you don't mind that (and if you don't need to make changes) they are ok.

The other problem, of course, is that they spam this site.

agtoau Jul 31st, 2007 07:58 AM

Kathie, I didn't know of their spam. That is regrettable.

About the "chronic" bit - I haven't yet had a problem. I have gotten exactly the deal they have listed. My hotel bookings were all in India. Perhaps you have faced these issues for bookings in other countries?

JamesA Jul 31st, 2007 08:02 AM

Well said kathie - my thing is why take the whole lot when it can be months ahead when others only charge 1 night as a deposit ?

Also others show you exactly what rooms are available and can give 'instant confirmation' and still you only pay 1 night as deposit.

I wouldn't walk into a shop and have my credit card charged for a new refrigertaor only to find it was not available or only one at a higer cost and then be told to wait for a refund on my credit card !

agtoau Jul 31st, 2007 08:10 AM

JamesA, that is how even other sites like asia-hotels.com, otel.com etc operate. Most of my bookings at these sites have been for 1 night, so I don't mind the advance charge. Also, I always check the hotel site first and only if the price difference is significant do I book through subsidiary sites.

I used Asiarooms.com in June for a booking at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Asiarooms rate was about $15 dollars a night cheaper than any other rate. $15 bucks a night is not earth shattering, but it was not much effort to save the money. It worked out great for us. I would have no problem using them again.

I also have had no trouble with Asia Rooms and don't mind paying in advance since any interest I would loose on my advanced funds is peanuts. Of course I am not booking 5* hotels.
But I also check various other sites such as R24, Circle of Asia, Direct Rooms, CM on Line and Thai Hotel for the best rates. I find that usually Hotel Club and Precision are more expensive in most cases.

DonJ1973 Aug 1st, 2007 10:16 AM

You know despite all the flack they have been getting, I've used them with zero troubles. In fact, I just booked my 3 hotels in Korea, Taiwan and Japan for my upcoming trip using them and the rates they ended up billing me were the exact ones quoted on the site. Granted I didn't book Sheraton/Grant Hyatt quality hotels.

I used Asia Rooms to book 2x 4* rooms in Agra and Mumbai for 1 night & 3 nights respectively, paying in full in advance. Was very satisfied as checked room rates direct with hotel and got a good deal. On returning home, I realised yhat I had been charged twice for the rooms in Mumbai but I was refunded immediately when I brought this error to their attention (after providing proof of double payment). I would use them again but interested in other recommended companies as currently planning trip to Thailand. Thanks - VHS.
