Have just returned from holiday in Singapore. Do take into consideration the humidity. We are from Australia but still found the humidity draining. Usually we are sightseeing all day long but we found that difficult there and had to go back to hotel for a shower and rest before heading out again in the evening.
If the budget is tight then do your sums. Google for the entrance fees as suggested above. Hotels are also not cheap and alcohol is expensive. Eat at the hawker markets for budget and tasty meals.
Singapore is very pretty and the people wonderfully friendly.

I'd make the following observations.

Singapore is expensive and like a hot clean central London.
You could do KL as your entry port (direct or interconnect from Changi its a 40min flight).
/aclimitisation stop. Hotels or Airbnb options cheaper than Sing. KL is AirAsias hub so you can get most places from there.
Indian food fab in KL, food courts great, bird park, easy to potter around for 3 days. Early starts, morning activities, lunch then back to hotel or apartment for swimming, rest, out for dinner.

Makes it easy for yourselves and pick a couple of other destinations to fill in the time, say one beach and one cultural/adventure.

Hi, sorry for the late reply! Anyway I have asked the people who will be taking the trip with me, and we have come up with a list of requirements :

- Budget is £1500 per person
- We only want to visit at the most three destinations
- We are happy to visit different countries
- We don't really want to visit large cities
- We want to visit places with the best weather
- Amazing beaches are a must
- Must be accessible by flight : one of them isn't good with boats.

I will find flights another time but if someone could get us an amazing itinerary that would be great!

Oh sorry forgot to mention the maximum length of time is 14 days on the ground in Asia :)

Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam would be a perfect round tour :D

"We want to visit places with the best weather" - thta narrows it down in July to Gulf coast of Thailand, Bali, or East Coast of Malaysia. For me it would have to be Bali or Thailand. The sunshine presumably only matter for your beach time. The rainy season can be a great time to visit places like Angkor, Laos.

£1500 pp budget is fine for these locations. Check out Emirates from LHR or BHX for cheap flights to logs of Asian cities via Dubai. Usually £500 - 700 if yo look for their specials.

"We don't want to visit large cities" you are probably going to have to spend at least a couple of nights in Bangkok, KL etc. On arrival and departure. You would be missing out if you didn't.

3 nights Bangkok, 3 nights Siem Reap, 7 nights Bali.

I would look at sorting out your international flights first and then sourcing flights withing Asia with Air Asia or similar which will be very cheap.

Has anyone stayed on Centara Villas Samui? What is the beach like? We were going to stay at the Melati Beach Resort but it is over budget. Would anyone recommend spending extra to stay there? The only downside is the lack of a dive centre, but the beach there is paradise ��

An interesting P. S. Since I posted above I've flown Etihad via Abu Dhabi- not for the first time. All was well until we were loaded at Abu Dhabi ready to depart on the fourth leg of our journey.
There was fog which wasn't there when we'd landed two hours earlier. We were kept on the plane on the tarmac for seven hours during which the announcements from the cabin went from- "the airport is now closed and we are number 25 to take off when it reopens", to " just to update you there is no update".
After 7 hours we were taken off the plane and told we'd be taking off at 11.30. We arrived at the gate and they wouldn't let us in because they were expecting to dispatch a flight to Sydney ( this would have been funny at any other time!). The departure time moved to 11.45 because a member of the new crew hadn't arrived . Then having reboarded, at 12.30 we still couldn't go because there were no headsets.
Soon after we took off I suffered a crippling headache which I understand is characteristic of the Dreamliner.
Fed-up with Etihad and probably will never fly them again.
