Asia is such a bargain

I asked for a quote from Shopper Shuttle to the Desert Hills Premium Outlets in Cabazon CA from LA and the price is USD$180 pp minimum 2 persons. May have to skip it as I can't find a shuttle service to Cabazon other than one catering for the Japanese. Still waiting to hear from the latter. I know, I know, LA is LA.

why don't you rent a car?? what does this have to do with asia??

Haliburton33 Oct 12th, 2006 06:39 AM

Yes, what does this have to do with asia? I think Cilla_Tey is lost...

I live in L.A. county and go to Cabazon about once a year...to Burberry. Rent a car. Rental cars don't cost that much in L.A. It'll take about an hour and fifteen minutes to get there if traffic is at medium flow. What is it that you're looking for there? Anything specific because a lot of times I can get items for less around L.A. area...and some of the same things that they have at Cabazon...like at T.J.Maxx stores of which we have about 15 or more in L.A. area. There's also Camarillo Outlets which were built by the same people who built Cabazon and many of the same stores are there and it's a nicer and closer drive than Cabazon. They, however, don't have a Burberry store at Camarillo and a few other stores that Cabazon has. But overall, it's about the same. Happy Travels!

Because this is a very, very active forum and most of you appear to hail from the U S of A! Plus I keep reading about how much guides/drivers cost in SR (some querying an extra $5 or $10), I'm heading that way (SR that is) in December. Thanks Guenmai but I don't like the hassle of driving while I'm on holidays. I've already posted in the US forum on discount outlets in LA. I may just spend more time in LV instead.

I still don't understand why you posted w/this title here. Was it to bait us to open up the post and then help you w/the LA outlet transport? Well, you did get an answer, but I still don't get it. I really think someone on the U.S. board would have answered this. Oh well.

Guenmai, I specifically wanted to go to Desert Hills because they have Gucci, YSL and a few others. Sweet of you to respond, I'd best stop discussing in case I get thrown out of this forum!

lol! you know there are a few other differences between Siem Reap and Los Angeles besides the cost of a shuttle. We have freeways here. We have premium outlets here. We have freeways to premium outlets here and cheap rental car prices!

What would the problem be in taking the shuttle that the Japanese tourists take?

Cilla_Tey Oct 12th, 2006 04:50 PM

No problem with the Japanese shuttle. Just that they haven't responded to my email, have also tried faxing. Their site is in Japanese, I even tried Altavista but got gobbledegook.
Just having a whinge (as they say down under, not whine) and I was hoping for tea and sympathy in this forum!
Driving stresses me out especially on the wrong side of the road. :)

Haliburton33 Oct 13th, 2006 10:51 AM

Cilla, where are you staying in SR?

Cilla_Tey Oct 13th, 2006 04:04 PM

Hotel De La Paix as recommended by a Fodorite.

mrwunrfl Oct 13th, 2006 06:32 PM

But you have been driving on the wrong side of the road! We drive on the right side of the road.
