asahiyama Zoo??
Hi i was reading an old post on japan-guide from 2008
http://www.japan-guide.com/forum/que...y.html?0+58284 someone posted that they do not treat their animals very well. neglect them. is this true? Have things changed? i really wanted to go here for my birthday but if this is so, is there a better zoo in Hokkaido? |
It's an open plan zoo with animals allowed to live in natural habitats and as far as possible are spared from being caged.
I haven't read any reports about animals being maltreated. On the contrary, a lot of praise for what they are attempting to do. It's the most visited zoo in Japan, with more than 3 million visitors annually. |
It's the Asahikawa Zoo BTW and I have only driven by it but as Alec mentioned is the most visited zoo in Japan. Looked crowded from the outside. I personally don't like to see animals in any type of enclosure but that does not make it wrong. Have not heard of any abuses there and don't see any reference to that statement in your link. What or who ever told you that? Just curious.
Aloha! |
Sorry, I misspelled the zoo name it is Asashiyama in the city of Asahikawa....too many yamas and kawas this morning, lol
