Around Hanoi for 4 days
Dear all,
How should one allocate about 4-5 days around Hanoi (after seeing Hanoi)? I prefer to take things slowly and cover less ground. Thanks! |
weiwei22, there have been quite a few previous threads covering attractions in and around Hanoi - put together I think they should answer your question pretty well. If you use the search function above you should turn them up easily.

1 day in Hanoi??? You must not like Hanoi, hanguyen!
I enjoyed the Perfume Pagoda. If you are interested in Halong Bay, it seems that going for an overnight is best. |
We also really enjoyed our day out to the Perfume Pagoda. By the way, they are in the process of building a large tram to take you to the top. It will then become very crowded and will not be the same experience I am afraid. Go now, before it loses it's charm.

I sugguest you to visit Bat Trang Ceramic in a day (20 Km far from Hanoi, very good for country view and by a rent motorbike) and to Sapa for 3 days (overnight in minor ethnic house)

if you want to lose the tourist ambiance, a really nice day trip is out to a place called duong lam, a very ancient village, one of the very last places like it in vietnam, it is a farming community, and many of the houses are over 300 years old...if i were you, i'd rent a couple moto bikes, about $8 dollars a day and have an adventure on the 40km ride out and back. once you clear the city, it is a nice drive, mostly through agricultural vistas....if you do this, and get lost, we all do, just ask some one, they will point you in the right direction, and remember, there are no wrong turns in vietnam,...just new found places.
hope this helps, stewartsayyah.com stewart |
