Are fake goods also available in Langkawi

My friend has asked me to buy a fake bag & clothing for her. I know you can buy these things in chinatown in KL, but we don't have much time there, so I was wondering if you can also buy these things in Langkawi.
Thanks

I saw plenty of fake stuff in the shops and market stalls in Kuah town 3 years ago. Not in the shopping malls, actually in the town itself.

Most definitely.

Slightly worrying is the presence of 1 or 2 shops that look bona-fide and official (and the prices would suggest they were)yet the material on sale is suspect.

If you want a broader selection of "fake goods" get the ferry from Kuah in Langkawi to Satun in Thailand (about and hour) you can then get a minibus to Hat Yai. This is a sizable town in southern Thailand. It has lots more fake designer gear and the prices seem more negotiable.

If you do go, be careful at the customs office in Satun. My wife lost her ferry ticket due to some slight of hand on behalf of a customs agent there. Just keep it in sight at all times.
