Anyone tried out restaurant Fifty Five at Grand Centara hotel in Bangkok?
Hi
I have booked a few nights stay at Grand Centara hotel in December. Has anyone here tried out the restaurant called Fifty Five? Sounds quite spectacular if it is located on the 55th floor. What is the food like? WHat are the prices like? Is there a dress code? Is it best to make a reservation?
Regards

Hi gard: 55 has only just opened. I was staying at Centara Grand 2 months ago. So I'm can't talk from experience - but I can tell you now - it'll be mega-expensive, there'll be a dress code, the food'll probably be very good. If staying at the hotel, I bet they'll get you in easy.
FYI - rooms are exactly the same on business floor or normal.

Hi
I will be there in the beginning of December. So Fifty Five is more like Sirrocco on top of Lebua? Is there an outdoors part to the restaurant where you can get a drink with a view?

Can't answer with total certainty, but yup, that's my clear assumption. As for a bar, dunno. Maybe if you trawl thru their website you'll find pictures. But, yup, it'll be a classy joint. I guess you've been to Sirocco too. I reckon 55 would be worth a punt.

Hi
Yes, I looked there but there was not that much info. But it looks like the place Red Sky has outdoor seating Looks like they have a good wine list according to this article: http://culinarytravel.suite101.com/a...ars_in_bangkok

Yes, I noticed that too. Red Sky looks kinda cool. Well, you're the guinea pig. you'll HAVE to report back now.
BTW the hotel does have its quirks - one of which is maddeningly slow lift speeds at peak times. And when its peak time - it's REALLY peak time. Are you on the club floor?

Hi
No, I don't think I'm on the club floor...but they had some sort of offer that would give me access to the club lounge. So I'm hoping that I will get all the benefits of the club level even if I'm staying in a regular room

Hi
Seems to be quite expensive but very nice I do like gourmet eating but in Thailand you get so much great food for next to nothing...so I'm not sure we will go for a full dinner at Fifty Five. But I'm sure we will stop by to check out the place for some wine at least
