anyone flown Air China jfk to Beijing?
Hi - I just tried to get seat assignments and the agent gave me seat 37 J and K which she said is only the 6th row and is an aisle and a center. She gave me 41 K and J on return and same thing but on seat guru it looks like it is a window and center - anyone have experience with Air China. She also said they will only allow assignments on 2 segments? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

J and K are center and window seats. Row 37 is the 6th row of the rear cabin and from my experience on the 747-400 of various airlines, that Row 41 on Air China may have slightly reduced width. At the least, shoulder room on the K seat will be slightly reduced, as 41 is the last row with 3-4-3 seating as the fuselage tapers in the back. Next row on, it's 2-4-2.
Overall, you won't be enjoying your flights. And Chinese airlines won't give advanced seat assignments for domestic flights, if that's what you're trying to get. |
Oh great - she had told me that it was and aisle and a center - my husband has trouble with his legs so i guess I should try to call back but i have to say that she was not too helpful. The map i had said center and window but she was adamant it was an aisle. Thanks!

Also, Chinese like to keep their bodies warm. If you are a Westerner, you will find that most Chinese airliners are very warm. They do not air condition like a Western airline. Wear layers so you can take a layer off. It will be warm on board. Each seat does not have an air nozzle either.

THANK YOU - Ijust bought 2 new blankets because when we were coming home from Costa Rica - AA would ony give blankets to first class passengers and we froze!!!
The ticket office of Air China is closed on the weekends! I am trying to go with the flow!!! |
Hi there, Just got back from China and I have to say - THEY WERE WONDERFUL! We were in Row 39 on the way over had an aisle and a center not too much legroom but the service, the smiles and the flight were wonderful.
On the way home we were in the 2nd to last row and had a window and an aisle and lots of leg room - perfect flight and arrived 10 minutes early. We also took 3 Air China flights within the country and they also were wonderful and on time. If anyone has any Air China questions will be happy to help! We had connecting flights on Delta from Boston both ways - Both were late - 2 hours on the way out and 4 hours on the way back and the people at the Delta Counter at JFK should take a customer Service course from Air China that is if we still have Customer Service in the USA!!!!!! |
Flying Air China Bejing to San Francisco in February and assigned seats 82A/C: promised these were in business class but seat guru does not have this configuration:are these good seats?
|
No one seems to have the seat map of Air China's new 747 configuration. Not seatguru, not seatexpert, not Air China's own sites (English or Chinese).
|
I am reading that business class on the upperdeck starts with Row 81, so you're in 2nd row.
|
Yes that is true - you will be upstairs and it looks beautiful! You should be very happy! We were happy in coach - after having flown AA this year we thought we were in HEAVEN!!! Smiling people, free food, free baggage, free snacks, free wine - it was wonderful!

Thanks for the information and also for the good news about our seats

Air China was a good airline within the country. I was on a 737 window seat. It felt like a trip on UAL between MCI and ORD.
