Anyone driven from Singapore to Phuket?

Would appreciate any JBRs / FRs. Thinking of : Sin > KL > Songkla > Phuket > Penang . KL > Sin.

Like James, I don?t know what JBRs/FRs means. However, we have done this in two bits over the years, Penang to Singapore and return and the KL to Bangkok. Although we were driving our own car, not a rental, when we went from KL to Bangkok.

My advice would be to forget driving from Singapore, get across to Malaysia and pick up a car there, making sure when you book it that it will have the necessary insurance and papers to be allowed into Thailand. One sees Malaysian registered vehicles all over the south of Thailand and they are not uncommon as far north as Chiangmai, so there shouldn?t be much of a problem.

You need to find out if you can take a Rental across the border from Malaysia to Thailand. My thought would be that you could not. However, if you were doing such a journey stick to the big guys and Avis or Budget would be best, I know Avis are in Malaysia not sure about Budget though. Agree pick up car in Johor Bharu. If you use Avis they can arrange for you to leave car at Kota Bharu and then pick up another in Hat Yai ( Thai reg ).
You could only do this journey if you simply 'love' travelling by car, you need to have adventure in your spirit.

Thanks for the replies.

JBR = Just Back Report
FR = Field report
