The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok has issued a message for Americans traveling/planning to travel to Bangkok - http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/service.html . The message mentions that one of the incidents with violence reported took place near MBK/National Stadium. Unlike many of the warning s/advisories that come from Washington and are disproportionately fear-inducing, this one from the local embassy seems reasonable.

Progol,

Have a wonderful, safe journey! We really loved our visit to SE Asia last January! Enjoy....

We are leaving for India in February, and I really appreciate all your advice during my planning of our trip (last year).

Stay safe and have a fabulous vacation!
