Any nicer boats or private boats for hire between Siam Reap and Phnom Pehn

I have been reading descriptions of the boat ride between the two major sites. I would love to take the trip, but it seems a bit tough. No bathrooms for 6 hours? I am more than willing to pay more than $35 for the trip. But not sure what the options are.

Thanks for you input

Take a look at www.talesofasia.com for info about overland routes within Cambodia.

All the information I have says the boat trip is nothing special. You're in the middle of a large lake with no scenery at all. With the improved roads, the boat is becoming the least attractive way to get from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh.

I agree with Michael. The boat trip really is nothing special even if you could hire a nice boat. If you are intent on a boat trip then Siem Reap to Battambang is a much nicer trip in terms of scenery although the same problems exist of dodgy boats that occasionally get stuck or sink and are nearly always overloaded. Otherwise just get the bus.

We did the boat years ago & it was nothing special I had hoped to be able to watch life on the bank as we sailed but as you are too far away from the shore to see anything much. If we were to do it again we would go by road or fly.
