Any last bits of advice before Kathie leaves for Bangkok?
 

I fly on Saturday and am oranizing all my lists for eaating and shopping in Bangkok. I welcome any last advice anyone has!

By the way, we're having a Fodor's gtg in Kuching with Hornbill!

Last minute advice:

sleeping pills for the horrid plane ride;
eat at Junk in Kuching--it's great;
try the jungle fern (I'm sure Hornbill will tell you where to get it);
make sure you tell the cab driver to come back for you at the cat museum, I didn't see any taxis hanging around there;
watch out for those leeches--you may not be as lucky as I was ;-)

Ignore the Marriott.

Kathie-- and if you hear when/if Golden Triangle is reopening I'd love to know.

Many thanks for all of your good wishes! I don't tend to post much when I'm on the road, but you will get a full report upon my return (December 3). I'm planning on trying out lots of new restaurants and lots of new shopping this trip, and will give a full accounting of any new discoveries.

Thanks for the reminder to ask about Paragon (where the Golden Triangle is supposed to reopen). Last I hear, the prediction was that it would open in December, so I may be a bit early.

My restaurant list is flexible, we do plan to eat at Bed, and I think we'll try both the Thai and the Indian sides of Face, the Peking duck at China house... On the probably list, I have some old faves like Lemongrass, Thara Thong, and some new possibilities like the new Thai restaurnat at the Pen. I also have that great article out of the NYT and hope to try out at least one of the places mentioned there.

We're very excited about Borneo. I would be disappointed if we didn't encounter any leeches given all of our preparations! (Thanks for your report and tips, Laurie.)

Mary, I think we have our dental appointments set up, and I will give a report on our experience at Bumrumgrad.

And HT, I'll tell SJ that you and Linda will be back for more in Feb.
