Any comments on my Bkk Phuket trip Plz?
Hi everyone
This is my husband and mines second trip to Thailand. Last year we went and accumulated tons of miles on Thai Air so we were able to upgrade to Business one way and get good deals too in Premium economy(JFK-BKK the best premium econ- 46 inch pitch! for $199 only) Anyways.....please comment on our itinerary for this trip. I would so appreciate it 1.Leaving March 23rd JFK-BKK and going straight through to Phuket by 24th evening. 2.Checking into a cheaper hotel in Patong for one night(more like 12 hours) booked through expedia...we didnt want to spend money at a luxe place for one night. 3.Booked Hilton Phuket through points for 25th-28th nights. Diamond members get perks and we wanted to save some money here so when we go back to Phuket (after KL) we want to splurge. Also Karon beach seems nice--last year we went to Mom Tri Boathouse and loved Kata Beach so this is different. 4.Mar 28th-30th. Phuket to Kuala Lumpur. Taste of city life. Never been to KL and am excited to see and experience it at least a slice of it. Staying at Hilton. Air Asia taking us there, yes I heard some stories about them but at least we have little luggage and no International connection. 5.March 30th-April 3rd Staying at Katathani(ahh cant wait!) in the Junior Suite Thani wing. Yipee! I heard lots of good things about this place. This is our splurge! We booked Paradise package which came cheaper than the daily rate. Rates go down after April 1st. 6. April 4th- April 7th. Phuket-BKK on Thai back to Bangkok, a city we love and know well from the 10 days we spent last year. Staying at Conrad and want to go outside city limits this time. Any recommendations? 7.April 7th-17th..visiting relatives in India. Thai Air. 8. April 17th-19th..BKk again. staying at Millenium Hilton. Loved it last time too! 19th we come back to NYC. We are going to relax and soak up the wonderful thai hospitality and smiles. We also love Phuket and Phi Phi alot. Wish we could check out other islands too like Ko Lanta. Any recommendations? Thank you so much for any comments good or bad! |
For outside the city limits of BKK, there are several options. The most common is a daytrip to Ayutthaya. Usually a bus ride up to Ayutthaya and several stops and then a boat ride back. Very pleasant. Another is a visit to thye Prasart Museum. This is a private collection outside BKK, near the new airport. It's unbelievable. You make telephone reservations in advance and then arrange for a driver (Julie's Taxi works great). You will get a private tour of the museum and grounds. Many go to the floating market, but we thought it was overrun by tourists and not worth the time.

I hope you enjoy the KataThani even HALF as much as I did when I stayed there in Sept of 05. It was a really lovely place. And the junior suite near the sound of the surf was a pure delight!
