Thanks for the quick input to me previous question. Does anyone have a recomendation for a hotel in Chiang Mai. I'm a little over whelmed with all the guide book and internet listings. I'm looking for a central location under USD100 a night. In particular I feel drawn towards the Royal Princess, maybe because it seems to be in every guide book. Has anyone stayed there? Any opinion yeah or neah?

What kind of a place do you want?

The Royal Princess is a rather non-descript hotel right in the middle of the night market/ It's either a fabulous location or a horrible location depending on how you feel about the night market.

A place that gets rave reviews on this board and is in the same price range is Baan Orapin. It's a small, family-run place. Do a search here for lots of info on it.

I stayed at the Royal Princess and would never stay there again. Musty, depressing and uninteresting. Baan Orapin, on the other hand, is absolutely wonderful and meets your location and dollar criteria. Stayed there for 10 days and can't wait to return next month.

I will be in and around Chiang Mai 28Mar-01Apr. 28Mar will be arriving from NY so pretty much count that as a "lost day".
