Another State Tower restaurant
 

I just got an email from my friend who confirmed that children can go up to Sky Bar, with their parents, on the 64th floor. He went there last night, and yes indeed, there were a couple of small children with their parents.

My friend saw a NEW RESTAURANT on the 52nd floor that he says we should not miss. The name is Breeze. He didn't try it, but says it is really a neat place.

If you are in BKK right now, and you plan to go to Sky Bar, why not look at Breeze and give us a report. Now I'm curious about it. I have no idea what type of food is served. I'll bet the view is nice, at 53 floors up. Maybe it's like the restaurant/special party room/presidential suite, in the middle atrium at Banyan Tree.

Carol - I just checked on the Dome web site. Its being billed as "the highest outdoor seafood restaurant in Asia".

i just googled it and some pics came up but the text was foreign....it looks fantastic---even more so than at the top...

It does look inviting. I'm adding it to my list!

In view of the outstanding advice and assistance I've received from this board, it looks like I might be the provervial "guinea pig" to try out the new Brezes at the State Tower. I get to "see the view" and have dinner.

Craig, the pictures do indeed look incredible on the website. Apparently, it has some kind of sky bridge, or similar, connecting the restaurant to the main area.

However....
One of the articles where Breezes is mentioned (many are on the website), while giving the restaurant a great review also quote prices. The Asian seafood menu seems expensive. For example:

Fried dim sum platter = 710 B.
Malaysian prawns = 1,090 B.
Roasted silver cod w/chinese honey = 2,190 B.
Wok seared prime rib = 940 B.

While the Baht has certainly been appreciating, and I am no financial expert, are these pretty much par for the course for an upscale restaurant in BKK?

all the prices up there are outrageous for bkk....at each of the restaurants...that is one reason i have not eaten there because i am not sure it is worth it...

the drinks are also expensive but the view is fantastic...!!!!

it does look nice
but i have been to sirocco myself,the view was great stunning, went there to have dinner . in total 3 of us , we paid 8000 bath for that meals.

I have not eaten outside at Sirocco, but I've eaten INSIDE at Mezzaluna (I think that's the name). It was very expensive!! I think I'd like to try Breeze next time. I absolutely love having an expensive glass of beer or wine at Sky Bar. That view... oooohhh that view. Like no other!

That is VERY expensive for Bangkok. I guess it just depends on whether you find high-up views of cities irresistable. Some do, some don't. I'm in the don't category, having eating at many venues high above a city. I've found almost all of them, world around, to be mediocre. In all of my travels only one very high-up venue had excellent food. That was the restaurant atop the old Westin Stamford in Singapore, They had the best seafood buffet I've ever had. But alas, they are gone and the new restaurants in the space (which is now atop the Swisshotel Stamford) are way overpriced and the food is truly underwhelming.
