Ankor Wat

We will be going to Thailand in a few weeks and would love to visit Ankor Wat. Can anyone tell us prices on getting there by air? Can you hire someone to get you there by car? How long do you need to see it?
Sophia

I think the price will depend on which airline you choose to fly with, at the moment there are 2 cambodian (royal air combodge and royal phanom penh international) and 1 thai (bangkok air) airliners who serve you Siem Reap. It can range from 5000 to 12000 Bahts (1USD approx. 44.xx).
I think you need at least three full days at the site.
Welcome to asia.

It's a very short flight (less than 2 hours) from Bangkok, or a 9 to 24 hour drive over treacherous & sometimes dangerous areas. From what I've heard, only very dedicated/adventurous/budget conscious travelers go overland.

But it's WELL worth the trip - you will be AMAZED!!!

we just went to angkor wat last month in the middle of our trip to Thailand. We went on Bangkok Airways. It cost about $250.00 round trip BKK-SR. The only way I could get tickets before we left was through Yahoo Travel online. Very easy and sent right to my house. We only had 24hrs there which was not enough but was all we had and was worth it. Our guide was great, Ponheary LY. email me if you would like more info.

Do a search on travelocity.com to check prices. In fact, I went to the advanced search, did a multiple city itinerary, and it worked out quite cheap! Bangkok to Hanoi, Saigon to Siem Reap and back to Bangkok...the price was only $493.96 Canadian funds for the whole thing! The flights were on Vietnam Air, Vietnam Air and Bangkok Air, respectively.

Check any of the air sites (travelocity.com, orbitz.com or the site of the airline you're flying across the Pacific. The only non-stop flights from Bangkok to Siem Reap are on Bangkok Air. I'm going there in December, and plan to stay a week. It depends on what you want to see, but three days is usually considered a minimum to explore the sites.
