Animal welfare charities in Asia?

I am a huge animal lover (I have 2 dogs and a cat from ASPCA at home).
When traveling to 3rd world countries I am always very disturbed by the sight of hungry, sick dogs and cats on the street.

Does anyone know if there is an animal welfare charity I could visit in Thailand, Cambodia or Vietnam? I have done this in other places, like Rome....but I am afraid that the Vietnamese idea of a dog shelter might be the pot on the stove~!

(of course i will also be making a donation to a school in Siem Reap).

In Thailand so many temples ( outside of cities anyway ) take in stay and injured dogs and often cats, although there are charities we prefer taking food to the temples for the dogs. Dried food is easiest as they can store.

Soi Dogs in Bangkok is fabulous. Also make sure you get a copy of the king of thailand's book about his dogs. there is also a wonderful doggy health spa in bangkok that I went to a few years ago. learned a lot of things that I used on my very ill dof which helped him enormously -- he lived 3 years longer and with good quality of life than every vet and specialist said he could.

Thank you all for your suggestions.
I will be contacting these organizations prior to my trip to offer my services as a managment consultant. I have my MBA and think I can really help them to run their operations better.

If I did not despise children so much, I would consider writing a screenplay about Yip and Yap the Thai wonder pups who are just waiting to be rescused by a kind tourist from the USA. I also have extensive screenwriting expertise.

There is such place in Java, i forget the name but it is very famous one. It is located in Jogjakarta, kulon progo regency. They look after rare animals and registered in government and an international foundation. Go find through google...while you plan to visit it...
