angor wat from bangkok

any tours that one can take from their hotel in bangkok to cambodia to see angor wat..either same day or overnight

same day would seem impossible... you really need 3-5 full days there

From Bangkok to Angor Wat can do 2 days one night.
probably the best you should do 3 - 4 days for better to visit cambodia.

Are you interested in the temples of Angkor? Then you ned three full days to see just the major temples. If you aren't interested, then why go? It would be possible to get a small sample of the temples in two days, which means three nights in Cambodia.

You can fly from Bangkok to Siem Reap on Bangkok AIr. It's rather pricey for a short trip. Trying to do a day trip is silly, even one overnight gives you no time to explore the temples. If, however, you are only interested in checking it off a list, you could fly on the first flight one morning and leave by the last flight the next day.

Learn a little about the temples before you decide what you want to do. Dawn Rooney's book, Angkor: A guide to Cambodia's Wondrous Temples is the best book on the temples.

i guess u are right...i figured was close to there and would like to see it.. but sounds like i should there NEXT year and plan on 3-5 days as you suggested.
FRom where do you usually flt into Siem Reap from? besides bangkok???
i have 4 1/2 days in bangkok---would like to day trip(s)--where would you suggest-- not beach person...like temples history...animals(HUMANE elephant sanctuary??...any bird places??)..
Do most hotels offer tours to outlying areas??

One can fly to Siem Reap from Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi or HCMC. Yes, save it for next year.

You could spend 4.5 days in Bangkok just visiting temples. Since you like temples and history, take a day trip to Ayutthaya. You can arrange a tour once you are in Bangkok - choose a tour that does one way by boat.

In terms of animals, save visiting elephants until another trip when you go to Chiang Mai. The Elephnat Nature Park and the Thai Elephant Conservation Center are both good.

Spend the rest of your time in Bangkok.
