Angkor Temples
 

Folks:

I will be departing to Angkor soon and had two questions I thought somebody here could help me with.

One, there are a few temples I’d like to visit that are a bit off from the Angkor center (namely, Banteay Srei and Kbal Spean). I understand that the driver might ask for an extra $5-10 for that temple. Do the Roluos temples also cost more or not?

2. Do you do any further temple-hopping once the sun sets or does the darkness pretty much force you to retire to the hotel/Siem Reap?

It does cost extra to go to Banteay Srei. Our driver did not charge us more for the Roluos temples, but do ask. (I believe the moto drivers ask for more.)

Once the sun sets the temples close. It is dark and they are not lighted.

as kathie indicates, the temples are located loosely in a park which closes at sundown

Having said that temples like Ta Phrom the jungle temple open early - we went to watch the sunrise over Ta Phrom and were the only people there - was an enchanted hour. Our driver took extra for Bantey Srei too.

BS is considered by many to be the best of the temples, so make sure you pay the extra money
