American living in Tokyo needs Chinese visa

Hi there - I'm hoping KimJapan, or other Americans living in Japan can help me.

What is the best way for Americans living in Japan (Tokyo) to obtain a Chinese visa? The Chinese embassy website is only in Chinese or Japanese, so I'm afraid I can't glean much information there. Can anyone recommend a Tokyo-based visa expeditor, or travel agent?

I live in Beijing, and I would love for my husband's best friends (Americans living in Tokyo) to visit us. I'm trying to plan a surprise for my husband's 40th (sshhh!). Unfortunately, these friends, lovely as they are, are not good at organizing things like visas - hence my question. Thank you!

I don't live in Tokyo and haven't been to China. But, if I were to go to China, I would start by contacting the Chinese embassy in Tokyo by phone...I do speak Japanese, but it's likely someone there would speak English...if your friends do not speak Japanese they might arrange for a Japanese friend or colleague to make the call for them. Travel agencies like HIS will likely be able to organize a visa or at least tell them how to go about it. A phone call to the US embassy in Tokyo may also prove to provide some information.

petitepois,

you can also copy the page and use this website to tranlate

http://babelfish.altavista.com/

if you use internet explorer as a web browser you can usually right click on the page and a bunch of options appear. One of them will be translate this page into english, click it and it will tanslate only literally what the page says. Good luck!

Aloha!
