american credit cards in Japan
Heading to Japan for a week and wondering what American credit cards are widely accepted in Japan?

Visa is the best "credito". Discover is not accepted at all. Saw some MC and Amex stickers, but didn't use them.

You will be using "kurejitto kaado" in Japan.

Yes, Visa is the best to carry - WHEN they accept credit cards. And actually once we did come across a restaurant in Tokyo that only accepted MC. <BR><BR>But taking ample cash is still necessary.

Visa-card, Master-card and American express-card are widely accepted in Japan. But some small shops don't accept credit cards. We have no Discover-card in Japan.
