Amarvilas - view of Taj obstructed by smog?

Hi all,

I've been reading that the view of the Taj Mahal from Amarvilas is often obstructed by smog. Does anyone know how bad the smog would be in late March? I've heard that time of year can make a difference but don't know anymore than that.

Thanks for your thoughts.

You are only a few hundred yards from the Taj at Amarvillas. We were there in August and had a very clear view from our room. Got some great pictures, even through the window. .

There shall be no smog over the Taj in March. The worst period is between say 20th December to about 15th January or a little longer.
Best Wishes!

I was staying there in early April this year, and smog was not an issue. The view was wonderful. Amarvilas, incidentally, is like heaven on a stick. Sublimely wonderful...understated and elegant. The views from the balconies are to die for.

Thanks. This is helpful info. I'm trying to determine what category of room I'm willing to pay for and the view makes a difference.

Some rooms have balconies and some don't, but all have the Taj view.

We very much appreciated having the balcony - it was also good for watching the early evening entertainment (Indian dance) taking place on a platform above the pool.

The balcony is a must! And to do justice to the Taj, you really need 2 nights...one so you can see it at dusk from the river...and the other so you can see it at dawn...Trying to squeeze it into one night is not possible if you want great photos... I have some at http://www.photosig.com/go/users/vie...olio?id=183031
