To the best of my knowledge having seen the site last October where it will be built, I don’t believe the opening is anywhere near “imminent”, I believe it is 2008 or maybe later. As of October, they had not even torn done the existing buildings on the site. Aman isn’t even advertising it on their own website as being a possibility yet. It will be located a few hundred meters from the Oberoi. I know that Aman reccos the Manor for people staying in Delhi, perhaps that is what you are thinking of...

Thank you. Actually I heard from Aman's management in Bali that the opeining is scheduled in 2007.
I knew about the Manor, but for some reason from 2007 Aman reccommends the Imperial and Oberoi (this is what they did when I booked Aman-i-khas).

I think the Imperial is an outstanding hotel, and have never understood why Aman reccod the Manor, not as nice and not nearly as well located. I always suspected some kind of tie-up between the too. Glad to hear they are reccomending the Imperial these days. I have come back to liking the Oberoi, certainly for business, not so great a location for tourists. But then the Aman will be right there, so interesting to see how that all turns out....

There are a lot of Aman-junkies that hang out at www.flyertalk.com on the luxury hotel board. They're usually pretty in-the-know when it comes to new property openings. You may want to give them a try.

Cicerone, I have read somewhere that Aman is actually going to buy the Manor. But this would be inconsistent with the clear input i received from the Aman reservation office that they do not use the Manor anymore as their base in Delhi. I was thinking that maybe they had an agreement with the Manor which expires these days (due to the forthcoming opening of the Delhi Aman) and now they freely suggest other properties.
