Alternatives to Vietnam Air -Saigon to Danang
 

Hi all,

I'm planning a three week trip to Cambodia and Vietnam in Feb-Mar and a key part is getting from Saigon to Danang (and then Hoi An). The Vietnam Airlines flight is offered 4 times a day, but the first is at 6am, and the rest are at 4pm or later. We were hoping to arrive in Hoi An in the early afternoon (or at least before dark) but this doesn't seem to be possible. Are there any alternatives? Either other carriers, or maybe flights to Hue, then a train to Hoi An?

Try pacific airlines - they have some other times. I am also trying to piece together flights in the region, BKK, Siemp Reap, Hanoi, Danang - not so easy but I am getting there!!!!!

So I asked our contact at VietnamStay if she could book us on the Pacific Airlines flights and she told me that those flights don't exist yet - contrary to what their website says. Guess I will need to check directly with the airline.

Da Nang is so near from Hoi An. You can catch a taxi or coach to get to Hoi An from Da Nang. It takes you 40minutes only.

There are 2 options for your itinerary.
1. Flight from Saigon to Danang with Vietnam Airlines in early morning. Then ride on a bus to Hoi An starting at 2PM. As such, you will be arriving in Hoi An around 6PM.

2. Flight from Saigon to Hue on the the previous day. Overnight in Hue (worthwhile visiting the Old Imperial Hue) then take an early bus from Hue to Hoi An at 8AM. You will be in Hoi An at early afternoon.

by the way, there is an interesting champa museum in danang. I stopped there on the way from the airport to hoi ann
