Albert Court, Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton?
 

Still have not made up our minds about where to stay in Singapore in early January for a couple of nights. Wavering between 1)staying at Albert Court hotel and saving money for shopping, tailor, good meal etc., and splurging and staying at 2) Four Seasons or 3) Ritz-Carlton. Some Fodors rants complained about smoking (we are nonsmokers) at Ritz-Carlton but it ranked the 8th best hotel with T&L, and it has an intriguing special with personalized butler service. Four Seasons ranked 6th. Any one stayed at these hotels? Tried the personalized butler service at the Ritz-Carlton? Any thoughts?

I travel to Singapore on business several times a year and always stay at the Four Seasons. It's not as big and elegant as Four Seasons usually are; but it's comfortable, well designed and extremely well situated within walking distance of Orchard Road, Newton Circus, and the Botanical Garden.
The service is very good, the food very good, especially the Chinese restaurant. In addition to the main restaurant, there is also a pleasant breakfast buffet on the healthclub floor.
There are two pools; they are rather functional, not "resort-y". They have non-smoking rooms.

I am anxious to see the reply.
We are deciding between FS and RC in Singapore in early August.
The FS has a pool, I don't believe RC does....but RC has a club floor and FS doesn't. So I can't decide either.

We have stayed at the Oriental, Raffles and the Ritz Carlton. The RC does have a large pool. We were on the club level with wonderful food. Did not even
have to go out to eat if we didn't want to. The view from the room AND the bathroom was wonderful.

The Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons are both fine hotels with high standards and exemplary service. The Ritz is much larger at 600 rooms compared to the 4Seasons at 250. The decor at the Ritz is modern and striking whereas the 4Seasons goes for the overstuffed cozy approach. The views from the Ritz are stunning; the 4Seasons is jammed into an oddly shaped urban plot. To me the major advantage of the 4Seasons is its location: right in the middle of things, you can walk everywhere. The Ritz is in the business district and is somewhat isolated from Singapore's attractions.

Thanks so much for the replies. We are leaning towards the Ritz Carlton. They are the highest ranked in terms of service in Singapore (travel and leisure top 100 hotels), and have a special weekend package which sounds like a lot of fun: room upgrade to marina view, breakfast, and butler drawn bath (or other 3 options like afternoontea, discount on spa or restaurant etc.) for $156 US per night.

We just picked the Ritz Carlton for our visit to Singapore in August.
We love the club floor at any Ritz Carlton, and it is amazing to stay at one for $180/night (includes 5 food presentations...breakfast and 4 other presentations) drinks and wine in the evening, etc.
