Airfare Thailand to Hong Kong
Does anyone know where we can find good prices for flights between Phuket and Hong Kong? The cheapest we found so far was more than $500.
Thank you. |

Looks like you have to use an agent to get the international tickets with them. www.asiatravel.com lists them.
|
A cheap way from Phuket to Hong Kong is to use discount airline Air Asia. They fly from Bangkok to Macau for around $85 and from there just catch the ferry to HK. You can also fly with them from Phuket to BK.
|
But if you use Air Asia, you first have to get to Bangkok, allow enough time between flights to claim baggage and get to check in in time...at least 3 hours between flights is recommended (and if you are delayed and miss the second flight you have to buy a new ticket), and then you are still not at your destination but at least an hour away if everything goes perfectly. I'm not sure that the savings in Airfare over Orient Thai is worth the huge amount of time and hassle.

If it's from Phuket try Seatours Phuket Town, they proably have deals with Malaysia Airlines via KL or Silk Air/Singapore Airlines via SIN in addition to via Bangkok or the other options.
[email protected] It also depends what time of year etc, there is Dragonair non stop Phuket to HK, did you try them ? Flights vary depending on time of year but that's a fast way. Air Asia also via KL to Macao on that routing. If via Bangkok you can also try cheap flights on Emirates, Gulf Air, Kenya Airways, Ethiopian, but if you are using a budget carrier to/from BKK make sure you allow masses of time and note that Air Asia is currently the only budget carrier going Phuket to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi from where the HK flights leave. I would email Seatours Phuket, they are excellent, see what they offer, do advise if o/way or return and time of year etc. |

If you are also flying from some place like North America to and from Asia, I strongly suggest you check out the price of adding the BKK-HKG flight to your international ticket.
I did that last year and adding that segment actually lowered the price by $200, from $1600 to $1400! |
As stated above only Dragon Air and Oient Thai have direct flights and they are not cheap, Dragon is $551 and I assume Thai is about the same. A travel agent may get you better rates. I still say that Air Asia is the cheapest way to go at around $130 plus ferry transfer from Macau to HH. Leave Phuket 9.05 and catch the 12.25 flight to HH. If you should miss this there is a 16.55 one.

From Bangkok to HK also look at China Airlines - they have good prices generally & you can book online. I just booked this route yesterday for our trip in February (I did it early as its Chinese New Year when we need to travel).
|
Another way that you can go to Hong Kong, is buying the low cost airlines, ticket to Macau and take the ferry to Hong Kong. Air Asia always have the promotion , if you reserve in advance, the price is incredible.
|
I booked AirAsia yesterday for a January flight from Bangkok to Macau and with all taxes it worked out to 5268 baht (including airport taxes). A lot less than I paid ten years ago.
With the way the baht continues to fall, I thought it better to book now. |
For February on CI I paid 11200 thai Baht (inc tax) (for 2 people) - its a good price Bangkok to HK.

If transiting through Macau to HK on a ferry is a visa required for US citizens?
|
US citizens can visit Macau for 30 days visa-free.

BKK-HKG is one of the most competitive routes in the world, with I believe the highest number of airlines serving in the world. Prices are always competitive, so one doesn't necessarily fly to Macau to save money.
HKT-HKG is a different matter. |
You can also try the links for flights in Asia on Asiaoz
http://www.asiaoz.com/deals.html as they have some links for Bangkok travel agents who do cheap flights around Asia from Thailand. |
