Bill
I think the average airfare from LAX to BKK would be some 700 -800 USD. My friend just return from San Francisco with the fare about $750.
At the moment THAI offers a special price for outbound trip from LAX, you can check the website in global reach section, and you can get free transfer to domestic or some asean destinations, and you can stopover in bkk for free.
Welcome to asia.
Recently, I took Cathay-Pacific to Bali and had a terrific, as well as inexpensive, in-flight experience. You ask about Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand.

If you'd like to visit all three in one go, consider Cathay-Pacific's *All Asia* Pass - http://www.cathay-usa.com. Sign-up for their CyberTraveler program.
For roughly USD $1000, you can travel to 17 different Asian cities, via Hong Kong, for a period of 30 days. That may be your best value. Personally, I regret that I didn't explore Hong Kong. The view from the new airport is gorgeous - mountains, sea, and sky. Schedule-in an overnight stop-over in Hong Kong.

$700-$800 sounds about right. Try TicketPlanet.com; they're a good source of consolidator tickets to Asia.

- Dana; [email protected]
http://www.moretimeoff.com
I booked with Genietravel.com from Chicago to Bangkok, round trip, for under $800, the Chicago to LAX portion is on American, LAX to BKK on Asiana with a stopover in Seoul. I found Genie Travel to be very efficient and friendly, too. I already have my preferred seat assignments and frequent flyer number entered in the airline record. Genie's quoted prices will include the taxes unlike the quotes of some others. No, I don't work for them or know them personally. Good luck.
