Air Asia

Has anyone used Air Asia to book a package and/or flights and how was it?

I just replied to your question on your other thread. Do a search. There are many dozens of coments about Air Asia.

Scheduled to use them again for our March BKK-CM trip. Deeply discounted vs Thai Air -even with Xpress Boarding- it was a steal !!! Have been very pleased with their service, planes since we used them this past summer.

When I booked a flight recently for Hanoi to Bangkok, I was offered the option of Xpress Boarding for $US 6.50.

When my ticket price was calculated, I was charged only $US 1.50, the senior citizen rate! Bravo for Air Asia.

Expecting mothers, children, senior citizens and the handicaps get to board first so why did you pay for express boarding or why do they have a express boarding fee for seniors?

I don't find any info on expectant mothers et al getting Priority Boarding. They do have free senior boarding after Xpress Boarding pass holders though.

We got caught in a melee in KL/Malaysia with people cutting in front of the line without the agents doing anything about it in a previous Air Asia flight.

There's 5 of us so we thought this would be worth a try. We'll see...........

ggod luck - people either love Air Asia (because of the fares) or hate it (because of the cancelled and delayed flights, extra charges for luggage weight, no assigned seating, etc.). I think in part it depends on how tight your schedule is.

We used them for 3 flights in August and had no trouble. One flight was delayed an hour, but we figure all airlines have delays.

Boarding was simple...they had just introduced express boarding, and all it was at that time was an invitation to board early and the first few rows of seats on the plane reserved for those who paid for express boarding.

Regular passengers boarded all together, and a flight attendant was "seating" people front to back, and it went very fast...much faster and less chaotic than the boarding experiences we just endured on 3 flights on US Air/United in the US, which had assigned seats but took forever with their "clever" zone system which made no sense to me at all.

I'd use Air Asia again, no problem.

Hanuman, you asked why I paid for Xpress Boarding as a senior citizen when I should have know that senior citizens board first anyway.

Simple: I actually look 10 years younger than my age. I would never be permitted to go forward with the other elderly passengers when senior citizen boarding is announced.

easywalker- paying $20 for Xpress Boarding because you look really young- sounds like a great deal to me :) !!!

Hanuman Jan 18th, 2008 06:10 AM

easywalker,

So I guess you will get to board before the regular express boarders because now you're a senior express boarder.

Keep flying Air Asia and you will look your age soon! ;)

i look old for my senior age, so i have paid the fee....also to ensure early seat selection
