After Thailand coup - is it safe now?

Hi there - does anyone know how safe Thailand is now? After the coup? Any experiences, positive or negative? Thanks very much in advance for any info that you may provide...appreciate the help!

Do a search here. There have been a series of posts after the coup, including posts form those living in Thailand.

A number of the regulars on this board are headed to Thailand in the next few weeks, myself included. I have no concerns about safety after the coup.

Bob/Kathie,

Any chance of running into either of you in BKK? We'll be there the 13th and 14th.

even at most the coup only lasted really for one day that they wanted people to stay indoors. Apart from that one day, every other day were perfectly normal days again. So you have nothing to fear.

Hello and greetings from Bangkok! I arrived yesterday from NYC, and all looks good! Airport is gorgeous and quite user-friendly and very bright and refreshing too. What a pleasure after the long haul!

I am only in town for a few nights and then on to Delhi, but will be back in town later in november and again in December..Sawadeeka..

Bonita- can you offer any info on the connection between the new BKK airport and the Novatel? I read earlier on this board I think that you had to go outside to reach the hotel. I'm stressing out in advance of my trip in January and deliberately booked there to make the transport of my luggage easier- but I didn't like the idea that late at night I'd have to trek across a road to get there- any improvements that you noticed? thanks

Bob, sure I'll just hop on over to Jaipur for a quick look-see! You paying?

Kathie, wish I could too...looks we're going to just miss it. Such a shame. But perhaps there will be another GTG when we are back next November.

Of course, if there's ever an L.A. GTG, you'll definitely see us there!

We were in Thailand several days after the coup, for a couple of weeks, travelling to many areas, including a few days in Bangkok and felt perfectly safe. Wouldnt even have known something had happened.
